I've never posed myself, but I have to say that the models in my life drawing and figure sculpture classes impressed me. I also noticed that many more women were willing to pose then men. (I can remember four men in four classes, versus I don't know how many women.) And yes, hands are horrible! Feet are much easier...

My art teacher used to describe the ideal pose to portray:
Head in the sky, hands in the pockets, and feet in the grass!
