This article brings back memories of wandering around Pere Lachaise in the pouring rain a few years back. The sheer hypnotic beauty of the place is something I shall never forget. As morbid as it sounds, I'd like to go back, preferably with an umbrella, and have a better look around, as we missed so much due to a shortage of time.

We had the best part of a day (due to unforseen circumstances...) and it was sunny most of the time.
It is undoubtedly my favourite memory of Paris, and I'd love to go back too. (Tip for future readers - give Versailles a miss, it really isn't *that* special.)

Really? Mark and I wanted to go to Versailles, but due to the French tradition of strikes, the RER was out of action for the majority of or visit and we couldn't get out of the city
It was a pain, as I wantedt o see the Musee D'Orsay and other stuff, but the civil servants were also on strike. We still had a good trip though, we went up to Mont Marte(or is it Matre? I can never remember), Notre Dame, Mont Parnasse and all sorts of other places. I'd still love to go back, perhaps for longer with more pennies and show babygirl about. Maybe when she's five or six

I'm not really here Posted Aug 9, 2003
Versailles might have been more fun if we'd have seen the gardens, but memory fails me as to why we didn't visit them. I got too tired and hot probably.

We missed out on Musee D'Orsay as well because of civil servants strike as well. Being one myself, I couldn't really complain...
I think we had spent so long queing and mucking about that we decided to give the gardens a miss, as i recall, hon. We went into town for food and wandering. Bloody expensive in both cases, as i recall...
