Hey... you're right! Shiner, Texas is between San Antonio and Houston, not between Austin and Dallas.

And I'm particularly embarassed about this, because I'm the author of this HHGG entry. I was just tonight trying to find a Web citation about where Shiner, Texas really was, just to check my own memory about how Shiner was between Austin and Dallas. And here I found my own entry... and it disagrees with my American road map.

Our BBC editorial staff may be forgiven about the geographical details... but I have to take the blame, because I wrote the entry, and I've been to Texas, and I'm American. Oops! B{C>

hey, no problem. everyone know that us yanks don't know our north from the south. even if we are southerners!!! shiner is just a hop skip and a jump from me so it was easy to figure out without the map. and my fridge is full of bock!!
