A Conversation for The Benefits of Having Children - An A to Z
Waiting for Grand-babies
MacGill-Lil Started conversation Dec 8, 2009
As my Kids are now of an age to produce or reproduce, I am waiting... My eldest does not want to indulge , my middle child phones monthly asking, "how do I tell if I'm pregnant?", and my youngest tells me to be patience" dah, mom could I finish school and maybe have a partner to have offspring with".
Over their collective lifetimes, I have tried to explain to them that: you do not get to choose the off spring you get to live/share your life with, that every child will be unique and not even a match for your personality (a crap shout so to speak). You will love them-a biological imperative.. but, the true challenge is to help them to be- and appreciate the distinct and individual person that they are.
Of all the joys/challenges/ and work that life has to give us, sharing your life with another is the most fulfilling.
