A typical artistic response to science. Fleming wasn't a charlatan but didn't deserve the Nobel Prize, Knighthood and O.M. that came his way. What he 'discovered' was what is now known as Penecillin A. In commercial terms it is useless. It was only when the Americans had more men laid up with syphillis than war wounds that action was taken. Locking up virtually every top biologist and chemist in the Western World, many British, until they found a solution they came up with Penecillin B, which the Americans promptly patented. Fleming was not invited onto the team. People rememeber him, which is a shame.
P.S. I saw the film with John Cusack and Sam Beckinsale and thought it was rubbish.
