I really love Friends but sometimes moments in the later series jar. It becomes too reliant on Monica was fat/has OCD, Ross is divorced, Joey is stupid and eats a lot jokes. It seems too self-aware and is lazily based on over-exaggerated character flaws rather than situational comedy that seemed to work better earlier on.
The entry was right to refer to Ross 'terrifying' the audience. When you think of it, his behaviour is quite manic.
But I suppose you only analyse like this if yu've watched it too much!

I've watched all the series way too much, but I didn't realise how much better series 1-4 were until quite recently. It's not to say that there aren't some excellent moments in the later series.
And, yes, over-analysis is the sign of a deeply disturbed mind.
