You also have to define 'egg' and 'chicken' Is a chicken a bird from any egg or just a chicken egg? Is a chicken egg an egg laid by a chicken or one containing a chicken?
Genetics can help. If you define a chicken as a bird with such and such a code in its DNA then the first chicken hatched from an egg laid by a protochicken, fertilized by another protochicken. What came first now depends on the definition of a chicken egg. Defined as 'from a chicken' then the chicken came first.
A chicken and an egg are lying side by side in bed. The egg is languidly smoking a cigarette. The frustrated chicken says 'Well, I guess we solved that question.'
