was called a Fondue Bourgignone when I lived in Switzerland.Plate surrounded with different sauces to dip the cooked steak in. Replace the plate when the sauces start runnung together
For me a Chinese fondue is cooked in (just)boiling stock (fish or meat). You put in very thinly sliced meat (or fish) and quick-cooking veg (ie not carrotty things) Then at the end you divvy up the soup and drink it.
Marshmallows are good in the chocolate one as well. So is rum.

yeah, chinese fondue is really yummie! You can also put in seafood, and rice noodles (very thin, white noodles which are ready in a minute - literally). Great!
I must say that the chocolate fondue sounds nice as well...
