Well done for this Entry, it's a great read. It made us think of how easy it is to put sugar in your tea now but back then for so many, as you say, it was a very special treat. Great stuff. smiley - applause

Ooh, now I am thirsty smiley - smiley

I have visited up there only once but can testify that this is just how it is done there.

TC, you said one of the first two things Germans mention when asked about Ostfriesland was tea - care to tell the community what the other thing is? smiley - winkeye

I was hoping you wouldn't ask that, Yelbakk.

However, there are several things to do with boats, the sea and horses that people would probably mention, depending upon what their interests are. But the one thing that everyone will think of is the tea. That is how it was meant!

Many will also think of the Ostfriesen jokes, Küstennebel (a herbal schnapps) or other foods and drinks.

Didn't mean to be mean or something... For me, the first thing would have been the jokes and Otto Waalkes, the comedian. Tea, of course, but then I would have to think a bit harder. Horses, now that you mention them, do come in there as well. Küstennebel? Brrr

No no no, Küstennebel is just wrong. WRONG. W.R.O.N.G.*

There!

*) Küstennebel actually *becomes* wrong. It does so when being mixed with beer by a sixteen year old on his class trip to Rimini, Italy. Unfortunately, once it has become wrong, it stays wrong for good. Stay inside the body of said sixteen year old is what it refused to do.
