Have any of you ever seen that awful violin player, Andre something-or-other? I saw him on one of those German variety shows (which are great because they are so AWFUL) and I seem to recall having seen him in Austria, too, playing really uninspired walzes. My friends in Germany did not recognize him, and thus were somewhat less amused, but I recalled him distinctly from TV in Vienna (He's the kind of person you NEVER forget, so if you have seen him, I know that you are laughing as you read this!) I don't even think he was actually playing the violin, he was just - how would you say it? - "air violining". He was really awful...and I loved him for it. A lot of that kind of thing which I saw in Vienna was always with people just mouthing the lyrics - it was SO obvious that they were not singing. Man, when you live there, you take it for granted, but when it's gone, you end up missing even awful things like that! Please, if anyone knows this violin player, give me his name! I want his picture as my wallpaper on my computer so that I can laugh my @ss every morning at work!
Thanks!

Andre Rieu? http://www.andre-rieu.de/ ?
He comes from Belgium, not Germany. Fortunately.

That's ABSOLUTELY him! Thanks a lot. It's great to see that his website is well in keeping with his overall bearing. You'd expect it to be utter cheese-ball material and, indeed, it is. That man is doing exactly what he SHOULD be doing! Thanks again.
