A Conversation for John Williams - Film Composer
Not always the gusto

Asone of Williams' biggest fans, and I feel I must point out that the phrase "His scores are almost invariably magnificent orchestral works, performed with force and gusto" is innaccurate. Though the article does mention that Williams can write slow and soft musical pieces, it makes it appear that he does this rarely.
The truth is that some of Williams' best and most moving works are not the big orchestra pieces which made him famous. Take, for example, the Theme from Schindlers list, Obi-wan's Theme (May The Force Be With You),the theme from Seven Years in Tibet, and "Across the Stars," the Love Theme from Attack of the Clones. Although John Williams' energetic masterpieces are amazing, I think we shouldn't forget his softer compositions.
