one of the most esoteric uses of porbability theory is the
'experimental' determination of Pi.consider an infinite set of
parallel lines seperated by distance D.throw a needle of length L into the middle and the probability of it touching one of the lines is 2L/(Pi)D .so do this enough times and find the freq distribution and hence the 'probability'. then u can work backwards and get Pi.try it out sometime....
