A Conversation for Single Pipe Steam Heat
Addendum — Main Vents

Something I missed when I wrote this entry was the main vents near the boiler. These release the air from the main pipe system itself, speeding up the flow of steam to the radiators. You should make sure these are functioning properly in addition the the vents on the radiators. They are located near the boiler - if you follow the main steam pipe off the boiler, it should double back as the return pipe to the boiler, and just before it reaches you will find the vents.
