Sometimes you need to bake a potato in a hurry but microwaving does not give you that lovely crispy skin. Here is my method for a quickly baked potato. Turn the conventional oven on at it's highest setting and leave it to warm up while you complete the first stage.
Wash the potato (of course) and dry, cut it in half lengthways.
Place a sheet or two of kitchen roll on the microwave turntable and put the potatoes on it skin side down. Microwave on high for 5 minutes. Turn them over and microwave again for 5 minutes.
Transfer then to the oven and bake for ten minutes, turn over and bake for a further ten minutes.
By the way, the best way to open a baked potato to preserve the fluffy inside is to prick it all around in a complete circle with a fork and squeeze it open. Some people even put a cloth over and merely bash them open. Be careful with that method if you are not planning to re-decorate.
