Why Madmunk? Tell me more? Someone told me that it was a great city, they were under 21, and they said that it was a really cosmopolitan place.

Hiya Peta, Long time, no see.
Well, I've been to Dubai... ooh..... 9 times, maybe more.
And erm.... well, Its impossible to get into any of the decent bars!!!.
Not meaning to come across as an alcoholic here.... *grin* Even if you don't want to drink, just watch the truly amazing bands they have there, all the best places are STRICTLY 21+. At least wandering around a London, you can wander in to pretty much anywhere, especially if your with parents.... (Don't take this as fact, I've never been to London.... but if your 16, you can pass for 18 in most places... usually).
I s'pose for anyone 18+ who looks roughly 21, its not so bad, but for the 14-17 age range, it gets boreing fast, and embarrassing, being thrown out of every pub, bar, and even the odd restaraunt. Its just another city, albeit with a nicer winter climate (If you go in Summer, your either insane, or heading that way). There's a few nice places, (especially the Desert Zoo, if anyone's planning a trip ), and the 2 biggest hotels, Jumairah Beach, and Burj Al Arab (sp?) are..... simply stunning to look at....... I get bored of going there.



P.S, Yeah, it is really cosmopolitan.... But there's a certain social culture you have to get used to

You're absolutely right. The police here are constantly raiding bars and clubs to try to put a stop to the underage drinking culture, but what the government doesn't seem to realize is that if they set up some decent entertainment for teens then they wouldn't have so much of a problem in the first place. But that's dictatorships for you...

As for being chucked out of all the good bars - which ones were you trying? If you have a convincing fake ID you can get into most places. Might I recommend happy hour at Savage Garden, any night at Billy Blues or one of the theme nights at Henry Africa's for your next trip. Personally, Jebel Ali Club is my local - Caffrey's, 10 Dhs a pint at the moment...

Yeah, I would get myself a fake ID.... but I'm not planning on going back to Dubai again, so I don't see the point.
I really wanted to go to "Rock Bottom", to see the resident band they had there, a few months ago.... Oh well
I think I've been to Jebel Ali club...... a few years back... when a band called "Bedsore" were playing there
