A Conversation for Becoming the Best in the World at Something
Being the best
Elli Daire Started conversation Feb 24, 2003
Competition is not always a bad thing. Wallowing in mediocrity because you don't choose to compete can be a bad thing. Competition is only bad when you judge your own self-worth by how well you measure up to the achievements of others. Being the very best (fill in the blank) that you can be is what is important. Competition can motivate you to push yourself farther - much farther than you would be inclined to go on your own. It is not bad to try to be the best in the world, as long as you also realize that at some point, some point of your own choosing that is, your very best is enough.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
