Elli's Intro
Hi everyone - thanks for stopping by...
About Me: Born 1968 in Southern California, fled to the Seattle area in 1990. Was drawn to Friday Harbor (described below) early 1991. Moved into local trailer park with baby daughter, live-in boyfriend-with-issues, and maxed out credit cards. Got a job, paid the bills, saved my money, bought a house, got rid of the boyfriend, and bought the business where I worked. Met my husband in 1999, married in 2001 and instantly became the proud mom of two more bouncing kids aged 12 and 13. Together he and I bought acreage, boats, and new trucks, started his business, and are working to (literally) build our future.
Where I live: Friday Harbor is on San Juan Island, located in Puget Sound a 1½-hour ferry ride from America and a half-hour boat ride from Victoria, British Columbia. About 8,000 people live on this island, but it is still a great place. There are a lot of state/county parks/beaches for hiking and playing, and lots of cold-water sports - boating, fishing, scuba diving, kayaking. Lots of wildlife - I've often see Orca whales, porpoises, bald eagles, foxes, seals, occasionally an otter or a mink. Other wildlife would be found at the five main bars in town, but don't expect to find anything overly exciting, and I mean that in more than one way.
What I do: fixing up boats, boating, fishing, 4x4ing, black powder weapons, throwing axes, raising livestock, horses, building things, cooking, travel, gardening, sewing, reading, music, video games, inventions, having fun with friends!
What I don't do: ski (ouch!), scuba dive (eek), have tweeker friends (eeew...), or stop to worry what other people think!
My goals: to build a house on our property, make my fortune and retire young enough to travel. Maybe live on a boat and travel.
My mottos: 1. Everything works out exactly as it is supposed to. 2. You can have anything you want, but you can't have EVERYTHING you want. (My husband's mottos: 1. Everything worth doing is worth overdoing, 2) Crank it down till it snaps, then back it off half a turn.)

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
