A Conversation for Tips on How to Deal with Difficult People

PANAMA

I personally feel that Shakespear came up with a good way of dealing with difficult people in "Taming of the Shrew". Starvation and lack of sleep. If that fails, fall back on Woody Allen's recommendation: "Total immersion in warm gravy"

After spending 14 years as a senior shop steward i developed a way of dealing with difficult people. First off i took them into the canteen for a cuppa, found a secluded table and immediately changed the conversation. I had taken time to learn their hobbies and a bit about their families and to open up with a question about one of these took their mind off the immediate problem. After a few minutes i would raise the subject which had angered them and their attitude had changed. They were more receptive to hearing my comments wether in the negative or positive. This very rarely failed. Above all i never raised my voice and never told a lie just to make it easy.

Hi,

I am a new member and I just browsed through this topic. I agree totally on Killing such people with kindness. It really has worked for me. I have always tried to be so nice, so nice with difficult people that they are left with no choice than to really improve their relation with me. I feel many a times, it's impatience and envy factor that makes them react in such a way. What do you feel? write to me please.
