I heard somewhere (probably something on radio 4) that Sir Norman Foster *hates* that everyone calls it the gherkin. I wonder why?

Probably because a gherkin isn't the most beautiful and majestic sounding of words Kelli 
I, of course, am just guessing.
This was really interesting Pearl, thanks for that. I wonder if more buildings will start to be designed to be more cylidrical from now on too...
