Do you often remember things in the middle of the night? Cos I do. You wake up suddenly thinking 'I remember now what that really annoying tune I've been humming for three days is! It's (insert name of suitable really annoying tune with a tendency to get stuck in the head, most likely from several years ago)'

I only remember things in the middle of the night!

I get ideas in the middle of the night . It's weird. But I have to write them down in the middle of the night, in the dark, or else I forget them by the next morning

Sho - employed again! Posted May 2, 2001
As long as they're still good ideas in the morning a few minutes of lost sleep is a small sacrifice
I'm prepared to bet that someone came up with pop-a-point pencils in the middle of the night!

fluorescent pencils would be a good idea then, so you can see what you're writing in the middle of the night

Make that flourescent pop-a-points so they're always sharp and you're on to a winner, TC!

i woke up 3 in the moring & did (in my head) a maths question that i spent half an hr stressing over in an exam the previous day (which didnt manage 2 understand let alone work out then)! grr! its soo annoyin when that happens!
like finding the next lead in a pop-a-point pencils already been used!

Ah, now that really is annoying. The maths thing I mean. The pop-a-point thing is only really annoying if you discover that there are no leads left at all! Then it's really really annoying.
And don't worry about the maths. I woke up (about 10 years after failing my A-level) finally understanding not only imaginary numbers but the whole equation of a circle thing. Pah!

Yeah, I only got a C in Higher maths last year, after totally forgetting wave function and then playing Nibbles on my calculator for the rest of the time, but I blame the exam board. I'm actually surprised I managed to get a pass, it was probably a mistake (anyone who got exam results delivered in Scotland last year will know what I'm talking about). And I did actually wake up in the middle of the night remembering how to do simultaneous equations. Unfortunately, that was Standard Grade work and didn't help me much in the exam

Simultaneous equations - ah how we loved them.
I gave up on maths (or it gave up on me) when the i numbers came onto the scene. And all that Newton's law stuff about it not working unless K=1 (or some such nonsense) talk about fiddling the results!
Go off and do something nice instead, like cleaning the loo... or babysitting for 25 two-year-olds... compared to maths anything is nice.

Maths is fine. I liked it. Apart from those pesky i-numbers. Pah!

I have a friend who's favourite number is pi. He remembers it right down to nine decimal places. He always puts it on e-mail questionnires and stuff, when the rest of us put normal numbers like 7 and 13 and 42.

Around here everyone uses those clutch pencils: artists, engineers, anyone else who doesn't like mechanical pencils, anyone who wants to have the 'latest in pencil technology'... They can be found in the 'drafting' section of any major stationary store. They cost about $4.00 Canadian. The correct spelling is 'draftsman' and no, there is no female version.

Sho - employed again! Posted May 22, 2001
Funny about the "latest" technology - clutch pencils are such old hat they're hard to find here! I love 'em though, have a nice supply of shiny new ones for when the kids bust them up.... sigh.
Not sure about the spelling of "draftsman" because I can't remember the last time I saw it written (sure it had a gh in it though) and probably (being on the European side of the pond) it is spelt differently here.......... My mum insists on not making it "female" though. She gets really grumpy when the people she works for try to PC it up!

dont blame her. we should b intelligent enough to work out whether a dratfsman is male or female!
