It reminds me of something I used to love doing when I was younger, actually.

When my parents were out (or feeling particularly apathetic), we would take the matresses of the single beds and jam them up the stairs, making a fantastic indoor slide.

This improvised slide could then be used in a variety of ways - tie a piece of rope to the top banister, and we could 'absail' down it. Cover it in pillows, cushions and other obstructions and it became an obscurely-angled obstacle course. But of course the best thing to do was to collect togther as much bedding, cushions and sofa padding as possible to make into a large crash mat at the bottom, and then slide down the mattresses at high speed on anoraks and sleepingbags.
