A Conversation for Films Based on Books
Wrong about Blade Runner

Good entry overall, but I think it's wrong to say that the film Blade Runner added to the story Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep. Yes little bits were added but the book had a whole theme of religion following someone in a virtual reality which was never hinted or done in the film

The filmmakers might have felt the didnt have had the technology to do it justice. The film was made way back in 1982 after all. Remember science fiction films didn't go into a lot of computer generated imagery (the abyss) til 1989, some 7 yrs later. Even the first Superman movie with Christopher Reeve (1978) used old camera tricks (like wires) to make it look like he was flying.
