Catch 22 was a movie turned into a book, the book by mose accounts is better I think so anyway, but M*A*S*H It was the movie that was better than the book (Book came first) And lord of the rings they cut out some of the best little parts of it like Tom Bombadil!

Actually Catch-22 was a book first. Published in 1961 the film was produced in 1970. Heller recieved critical acclaim for his work, which satirised the beurocracy that would grind a man's soul into dust.

It is a very dark and disturbing trip into the mind of a pilot who only wanted to go home during a particularly bloody part of World War II. The film does not capture either the dark humour or the disturbing insanity that the book conveys.

I know what you mean, me and my brother used to ask questions of what happeneds in the book to each other he usually won though, he loves that book

Catch 22 is a work of genius. One of my favourite books. The film is good but the book is fantastic.

One thing that amuses is that most people think they know what a 'Catch 22' is or what Catch 22 means. That vicious circle of 'Damned if you do - damned if you don't'. But this is not what it means at all. Only those who have read until the end of the book know what Catch 22 really means - as explained by the old italian guy in the brothel.
