mucky but marvellous West coast of Vancouver Island North end of Pacific Rim National Park South of Tofino. Drive to top of Radar Hill & park.Walk out to West lookout, admire the Pacific Ocean below.Walk back out to car park & enter rough path,on a small rise.to the right. Path drops swiftly into the trees.Winds through typically mixed "wet" coast forest, down small cliffs via roots & through VERY muddy bottom trails alongside bogs & streams (to be waded or jumped depending on time of year)Passed truly massive sitka sruce & tangled salal bushes.Stop frequently to absorb the quiet serenity of it all. The only sound being the odd bird (& once the growl of "something" large hidden in the undergrowth) the ocean can be heard off in the distance as the beaches come closer. Too soon the trail opens into a sandy clearing & out onto the most beautiful, deserted beach with crashing pacific rollers. Only half an hour & paradise. Of course the way back is mostly uphill & just as muddy but well worth the walk.
