Does anyone have any alfresco venue recommendations in London? I'm not after prurient details, just place names; it's for a short story I'm writing.
Thanks. May your research be enjoyable.

Depends on whether you want urban or parkland.
There are plenty of deserted alleys in central London but they're usually fairly busy. Bloomsbury is quaint and has the odd nook and cranny, and it's also deserted at night.
Parks like Lincoln Inn Fields, Embankment Gardens or St James park are good, but they're usually quite full of homeless folks sleeping rough. Unless there's a lot of noise they will probably sleep through, or pretend that they are

Could depend on the size of the alley, how big's an alley? some London alley's are nearly as big as small roads.

Mind you, whenever I try to indulge in alfresco knookie, it's amazing where poeople just suddenly appear from. (I was going to use the phrase 'out of the woodwork', but realised in time that there isn't any nwoodwork outside - unless one counts trees).

If you've got, say, 5 people in a small alley in might seem to be quite a lot because it's a high concentration; but if there are 5 people in a large alley it won't seem so many because it's a lower concentarion.
(Chemists often have to think in terms of concentration)

As far as I recall, I was merely trying to sabotage the 'Most Boring and Banal Thread on h2g2' and mentioned the spectacle that is observed when an electric current is passed through a pickle (I guess somebody must have preciptated this thought by saying s'thing about pickles beforehand). This seemed to capture peiple's imagination and someone suggested creating a 'Glowing Pickle' thread.

Well, you'ld require some water content to facilitate the passage of an electric current in the first place. Then you can change the colour of the glow by soaking the pickle in solutions of different salts (i.e the same effect as in qualitative inorganic analysis using flame tests. If I recall, there are some hyperlinks at the start of 'The Glowing Pickle' thread.

On what planet does this pickle stimulating technique originate from? I can see the benefit of changing the colour of the pickle glow to reflect mood or emotion but wouldn't it affect the culinary desirability of the aforementioned pickle.
