I don't know about your Santa entry, but with this I think the ten titles were copied and the rest written by the researcher... which seems perfectly acceptable to me.

My only complaint is that it doesn't have a link to my bivouac entry... but on the other hand, my survival advice would probably kill more people than it saves

We weren't able to find any sites with text identical to this one, however if you run the text of your entry through the Digital Integrity Search at [URL removed by moderator] then there is more than one match.

Zarniroop, I'm not very happy with the feeling that your resent my post. That's why I'd like to make some things clear: As a scout it's one of my jobs to work through the Peer Review threads, searching for material that's suitable for inclusion into the Edited Guide. My decision is highly personal and depends on whether I interested in the Entry's topic (If I'm not, I usually don't reply to the thread and leave that to other scouts/researchers who are). I'll never say "I'm not interested in what you wrote, so I don't want it to be included." Another criteria is set by the writing guidelines, found at http://www.h2g2.com/writing-guidelines . A decision based on the writing guidelines is no longer personal. It's just going through a kind of checklist. ome of the points may be more important than others, but the following breaches made me, as you said it, "write off" your Entry: 1. "Write about reality." Your Entry was fictional. 2. "Be original." Most parts of your Entry have been posted to various places before. That does not mean that the whole "Santa Proof" thing is a bad read, I mean, it really made me laugh when I first read it. It just isn't your own work. ... 12. "Do not copy from other sources." No further explanation needed IMHO. No hostility whatsoever was intended. I'll do the very same thing again if I find copied material in the Peer Review. But cynical ole me suspects a bit of favoritism between scoutsgoing on here, I don't mean to be offensive (tho some people often take it that way -ask Dancing Tree or Tinkerbell)
Anyway I'm prepared to let the matter drop if Jeremy admits to being in breach of rules 2 and 12 in regard to this entry.

I'm not sure what you mean - how has Jeremy been in breach of rules 2 and 12? Where else in the Edited Guide has the topic 'Ten Essentials of Outdoor Survival' appeared? Also, as far as I'm aware the entry has not been copied from another source.

talking about your "Archers" Entry:

I see that you have removed the 'unfinished' remark in your Entry. If you say it's finished from your point of view (maybe except for some minor details), I'd say back to the PR with it. I cannot judge this Entry by the content, as I have never heard of the "Archers" (no BBC here I live). What I ~CAN~ do is to say that the Entry complies with the Writing Guidelines in my opinion. It's not copied from another source (found out by the standard www.findsame.com check), it's informative, it hasn't been covered in the Guide yet.

I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be in the Guide. But please understand that I won't pick it. I don't know anything about the "Archers". I don't know whether the facts described are true (I suppose they are, but I just don't know).

My supposal: If you say it's finished, back to the Peer Review with it (Subject: A507539 - The Archers), and good luck with that one !

Anna et al! The breach of rules I was trying to point out was actualy in the entry " It was first published in the 1930s in a newsletter of an outdoor club from Seattle, called the Mountaineers. Though it has been reprinted, changed, reduced and enlarged many times"
