A Conversation for How to Lose and Control Weight

To help make things easier

First of all I'd like to say that way too much emphasis is put on being judged by wieght by both people in-shape and people out-of-shape. One of the things that makes it hard for somebody trying to lose weight is that their associating all their efforts with their social problems. It can be very discouraging to go to a gym and feel that your being judged by everybody else in the room. I never liked going to the gym until I finally learned how to work out the right way. Then I found it to be a lot of fun and since I was there for my own pleasure I didn't care about how others felt about me. I learned about stretching and how not to get injured which made me feel more comfortable. I learned about lifting with low weights but doing a lot of reps to give my body more of a defined appearance, and how important it is to take a short break between sets, only about 30 seconds to a minute otherwise your workout isn't nearly as effective. I also learned about nutrition and how much what and how you eat effects your body. You don't have to just starve yourself for weeks to lose weight, eating a large healthy breakfast will get your metabolism going for the day, followed throughout the day by several meals with smaller quantities. Also, healthier food helps incredibly in getting you in shape and it is very important for your well-being. For example eating fiber makes you feel full allowing you to eat a lot less and certain high-in-fiber foods such as broccoli and soy beans are some of the best cancer preventers around, and for people who use their weight to screen out the prejudice crowd, this is also a great tool. Fruit and vegetables are also vital to your health, they're very low in fat and have high nutritional values, I started taking vitamin C as a supplement along with eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and I only got sick once last year. Also be sure to eat plenty of protein for your muscles but remember, your body can only handle about 30 grams per meal.

It's best to look at it as though either way your going to be judged by looks sooner or later regardless if it's a good judgement or a bad judgement, but the healthier you are the better you'll feel(trust me).

Gold star. There's a girl at our gym who must be at least 20 stone, but she looks like she's having fun being there and enjoying getting fitter (which she is - visibly). Some people ignore her, beacsue they're ignorant gits, others smile and say "how's it going"

Gyms are full of a*******s, but then so's life. Full marks for not letting them get in the way of your pleasure. I find now that some of the sneering brigade will actually talk to me. Not that I care overmuch; the nice people talked to me when I was fat.
