Don't forget two other places from which to view launches: in aircraft and from boats offshore. My wife has some excellent photos that she took from her uncle's sailboat somewhere east of the pad.
On the water, you'll be monitored by the Coast Guard, and in the air, probably by Navy airmen or other Human/alien crew.

I agree that a boat or plane would be the most excellent way to view a launch. I have been wanting to buy a ocean kyack so I could just lay back on it about a half mile offshore and take pictures. You just have to be careful when on a boat or plane to avoid the restricted zones. The fines I understand are quite steep, and you could face jail. In the case of the aliens, you risk abduction or being transformed into some lower life form like a sea slug.
