Yeah, that about sums it up. However, I have been to a game in which the fans have begun to fight. I'm pretty sure it was a fight between women. Tough crowd.

Yep, it isn't that uncommon for hockey fans to do a little fighting. However, the fighting tends to be less widespread (there aren't too many "hockey riots" or "hockey hooligans").

The dumbest fans are the ones who pick fights with the players. Throwing a cup of beer on a player is not a smart thing to do:
1) Fighting is part of the player's job
2) He has a stick

Picking fights with the coaches is not smart either. They tend to throw whatever they can get their hands on (sticks, pucks, hacksaw blades).
