The h2g2 Poem

1 Conversation

In the Dark

She sits on the ground, in the park.

Her heart pounds as she takes in her surroundings;

The wind rustling the leaves high in the tree tops,

The water from the lake lapping the edges in the dark.

What had happened? What had gone wrong?

Was it only a few moments ago

That she kissed her lover goodbye...

With her heart lifted as if in song?

It all happened so fast!

No time to cry out;

The man pulled her with him

Dragging her as he ran past.

Her jacket tore, her knees grazed,

She tried to pull away,

He snatched at her bag;

His eyes were glazed...

She sits on the floor

Crying, as he runs away,

Just thankful that it had been

A mugging and nothing more...
