I read yesterday that somebody had tried building and using Leonardo Da Vinci's parachute design (which has never been used before). It worked perfectly, but they used a conventional chute to land, for safety.

Sounds a little daft on their part. Why didn't they just attach the LDV 'chute to a sack of spuds to test it?
Ah well, ours not to wonder why, I suppose....
