A Conversation for Carlos Santana's 'Supernatural' Album

Being especially grumpy today, I feel like taking it out on Mr Santana. Yes a superb musician, very high skill level, an excellent live performer but I have only one album 'Abraxas' and do not feel the need for more. The groove is always the same. Songs, albums, tracks are interchangeable. I enjoy it, yes. But its like Heinz Tomato Soup, excellent, unchanging, but once you've got the taste, essentially bland.
The reason for his late success is surely the introduction to a new generation. The first time you hear Santana, Wow!
And tell me, please, about Dave Matthews. I have seen/read so much about him. People I respect like him, I have spent much hard cash buying his stuff in an effort to like the music, but I just don't get it. Why?. Are there not a thousand bands with more to say? Ditto Lauryn Hill.

I believe I recognise your name from the BOF forum Pheroneous. As one BOF to another, I recommend that you have a go at getting into Supernatural. Abraxas has been one of my extra special favourites for years and years but I got Supernatural a few months ago and I can assure you it's not very like Abraxas. There were even 2 numbers on the new album that I didn't like to start with but I love the whole thing now. Go on, give it a go. It's nothing like Heinz Soup. Honestly.

Oh, alright then. Another £13.99 hits the dust! Just don't make me listen to Dave Matthews again, please.
(P.S. Have a go at the BOF Inn, they'll make you very unwelcome, not having had much to do with mugwumps!)

Hey Pheroneous
I just bought the Santana Abraxas CD. I've been looking out for it for a couple of years - since I gave in a got a CD player. It cost £4.40 including VAT. Very reasonable. The first time I bought the record (could've been 20 years ago - too long to remember with even a modest degree of accuracy) it probably didn't cost much less - and that was when £4 would've bought you more than a posh ice cream.
Have you listened to Supernatural yet? If so, did you like it?
Happy Christmas. Or humbug, if you prefer.
