The parser converted the link to <./>http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/%20http://www.lspace.org/books/apf/</.>, so the problem is probably a rogue space in the GuideML.

I love the APF, but try very hard to avoid reading its documentation on any book until I am very familiar with that book. It spoils the fun and the challenge of finding the references for myself.
