In 1975, an 880 foot ore carrier went to the bottom of Lake Superior with all 29 hands. There have been many theroies as to why it sank but the most popular is that everyone involved did something really stupid at exactly the same moment.

baadmonkey - the little hand says its time to rock and roll...

I was just reading a link round here somewhere that said the Edmund Fitzgerald sank because the captain was a bit of a silly plonker who continued sailing his boat through an almighty storm despite not having any radar or visibility. He was being given directions by a ship that was a way behind him, using their radar by proxy. Unfortunatly, a squall broke radio and line of sight contact, and when it cleared the ship had gone down with all hands.
