Because the Wise men came to a 'house' to find the 'young child'
many believe Joseph had been in Bethlehem more than a year. Note the word infant was not used. They also did not go to a stable but to a house.
Further Herod believed the child was older when he sent the soldiers telling them 'kill every male under the age of two'
