You didn't really think I'd let this topic drift past - after all the research I've been doing smiley - winkeye

OK - Other good pubs are:
Messrs Maguire http://www.h2g2.com/a118513 for the decor, own beers, and food.
Dawson Lounge http://www.h2g2.com/a430057 being Dublin's smallest pub.
Merrion Inn http://www.h2g2.com/a430048 being my local smiley - winkeye

Yep, I know but I was trying to keep it to real, ie actual established Pubs, rather then the newer, sort of fake stuff which I think all the ones you mention are, not there's anything wrong with them but, if you read the intro I was trying to get just a feel of the genuine article (if you'd excuse the budweiserism). You know yourself the list of drinking holes worth visiting is almost inexhaustable. I'd agree about the Dawson - but if everybody knows about it there's going to be no room for anybody.
(ps. i wish i could remember how to do those smiley face things)

do any of you dedicated Dublin pub experts know if "The Cosy Bar" still exists? Somewhere in the Liberties, as far as I remember... (Can't remember too well 'cos we started drinking on Manor Street at lunchtime the one time we actually ended up there a good few pints later smiley - winkeye

I particularly like The Brazenhead, just up the road from Temple Bar - less tourists, more fun. smiley - ale
