A Conversation for The Drawer
A 5th option, if I may.

Do not even try to close THEDRAWER. It's utility is enhanced geometrically by being open and accessible at all times. Adding to it's utility is the removal of the requirement to open it to add some new or found item to the contents. Of course, that's just how I do it, I could be mistaken. Just a precaution; should THEDRAWER be located near a bottleneck, this option greatly enhances the bottleneck's properties. On the upside, it just might discourage a nere-do-well from attempting to abscond with one's couch through that particular egress.

Hmmm, that's quite a theory you have there .... at present my drawer stays open about an inch - no matter how hard I push it'll always bounce back open ..... should I leave it and see how it develops - or set about it when the festivities are over?
You've given one too many options there .... I may have to procrastinate until Spring.
