I am a christian, and i have to say that most christians do harbour fears about non-christians. We are specifically told not to go out with non-christians. In fact, if you begin to date a non-christian, you are treated as though you aren't a christian anymore and you are looked down on.
Once, I told someone that I thought my church was very cold and unloving, and she replied that the church had always been the same but that I had changed since dating a non-christian and that i should dump him.
I think it would be very interesting if someone investigated/wrote an article about christian dating. There is a lot more to it than appears on the surface and there is a lot more prejudice against non-christians/ "less-spiritual" christians than people would think, which is most obvious in views on christian dating.

Hi fV:
I'm with Alex. If you have the time to research the subject, the result should be quite interesting.
Your christianity is pretty local I expect. I'm not sure its fair to say that 'most' christians harbour fears of non-christians. I know that those in my circles do not fear non-christians or atheists.
I'm rather surprised that your particular flavour of christianity discourages going out with non-christians. [speaking of which, do you mean atheists when you say non-christian or would you include Buddhists, Muslims, Jews, etc. in the non-christian category? And, what other religions qualify as non-christian to your group? I've heard that some christian groups consider catholics to be non-christians?!]
I've always considered christians to be more accepting and engaging than that, if only to possibly lure a non-christian away from their 'ways'.
