Where would I be in high school without Academic League?! That, you see, is what they call it at my school. I'm a freshman in high school and I've seriously fallen in love with it. I, I will say proudly, am the only freshman on the Junior Varsity team - everyone else is juniors. I'm also an alternate for the Varsity team, on which everyone is seniors.
We never had a written test when we tried out. For the first half of the school year, the hopefuls came once a week to the coach's classroom to practice, and then we had tryouts in January which were just like practices except we were actually watched to see how many questions we got and whether we would be on the teams.
For me, heaven is one big Academic League practice session with British lit and history questions and all the cool people from my school team! Does that sound incredibly juvenile? Of course it is, and I'm proud of it.
