There's an article in the Grauniad today (Saturday 23 July) lamenting the lossof the Yorkshire pudding at Whitelocks.

Hmm, I could have sworn Yorkshire puds were still available - they're even mentioned in the article. Either way, Whitelocks is still a very good pub and I think Spirit Group made at least one positive change - guest ales.

There's certainly a lot of stuff on the internet that thinks Spirit Group want to change Whitelocks unduly. I hope this is wrong and that they realise what a gem they have, but there's always the nagging suggestion that public pressure is all that's stopping the dark woods being ripped out and replaced with bland plastic.

I tested the Tanglefoot just last week and it was fine . And the atmosphere was *exactly* the same as it was is 2002. Honest. I had a team of experts with me.

Good to know. I'll have to check for myself next time I'm in the area. Just to be on the safe side, you know?

By chance, I was with a team who had celebrated PhD success three years ago and, having been in different parts of the world since then, had unexpectedly reassembled in Leeds last week.

It was a bit weird. Time warp stuff . But everything seems to be going backwards now - I'm back on level 7, next-door-but-one to where I was before and teaching stuff I used to teach six years ago, several friends are moving back to Leeds... All very odd. The way things are going I wouldn't be at all surprised to find you heading back this way, Baggers .

Heh, it's a possibility; I still have lots of friends in Leeds, but I doubt I'll be back at any uni for a while.
