A Conversation for Tips on How to be Planet Friendly

Zarniroop (er.... I'll think of something amusing to put here soon!)

Before I start critising the tips on how to be planet friendly, can I say that you made some very good points, However, I must argue against some of the info given.
How can 100 tons of paper yield 40 tonns of 'toxic muck' as you put it, this is not feasible and it sounds suspicously like an argument forward by the incinerator lobby to keep up the calorie count of the stuff they burn! Research on the Cato Inistitute show them as a Far right research group comitted to forwarding capitalism, and trying to justify ecocide in the name of a fast buck.
Though nicely made point about marijuana, though do you really think, the powers that be (in this case the foresters and paper mills) would be in favour of such a marvellous Idea, I take it you know that 1 acre of land can produce much more biomass (which can be turned into paper) than an acre of trees can provide, also it can produce a crop in one year as oppossed to trees that take twenty plus years before harvest.

3. Road to hell - don't you mean those people that make a special trip in their cars to drop off a few cans, bottles and newspapers at a recycling site 3 miles away from home!!

4. To hell with beer bottles - what about the pint of milk that used to be delivered and recycled by the milkman!

5. Solar panels - OK they use a lot of energy/resources to make - they are still cheaper than most office block cladding per sq foot. Also they are invaluable in provide clean energy where you can't get a mains supply, and a petrol/diesel generator would be the only alternative!
What about wind power, I personnally recommend this over a solar panel, as I lived on a narrow boat with both to provide power, and the wind generator provided much more power.

Hope I haven't ranted too much!
I suggest people take a trip to Glastonbury festival or the big green gathering to learn a bit about 'treading lightly on the earth@.
