Another problem is the excessive consumption of meat.
In order to raise an animal, until it get's to be slaughtered, it has to eat a lot.
The amount of fodder a cow has to eat, until it get's eaten, equals the amount of (vegetarian) food ten people would eat in the same time.
Thus, in parts of South-America, forests are still burnt down to make way for acreages, in order to grow cattle.
