... and about cooking humans like this-- I don't honestly know. I do know that when Captain Cook was killed that his squeaky-clean bones were delivered to neighboring chieftans, so they could partake of his Mana, or spiritual power. How they got squeaky-clean though, well, I can't honestly say.

That's the only reference to possible cannibalisim I've ever heard happenening in somewhat modern Hawaiian history, but I think that there was a practice that did take place in the ancient days concerning that sort of thing; it had to do with partaking of the Mana also.

When you are heating the rocks on the burning tee-pee of wood, sometimes one will explode with a loud crack. The concern--mine anyway--is that my beer will be in the trajectory of the missile.

I know, I was trying to be funny. (I should warn people when I do that.) I know of this phenomenon, but never witnessed it first hand, much less know the word for it other than 'DUCK!'

Exploding rocks flinging bits of half-cooked, flaming pig carcass into the grass would not be a problem at the luau for the 150 bikers. Or even those flung into the dirt, for that matter. One thing that I have learned while doing luau pig is the need to be flexible. Were the above to occur, and if this particular luau was an annual event, then it would actually be expected and anticipated in the future.

Anticipated? Geez, we'd have to rig to blow up it in the future then, huh? Eventually it would be such a big deal that we'd have to stuff a dummy pig with dynamite to blow up for show, and have one roasting in the back to serve to everybody! YEEEE-HA!

We have friends who have an annual pig roast at their farm (see my journal entry). There was talk a couple of years ago about doint a whole pig in a pit, so I'm going to pass the recipe on to Minnie. With the bunch that gathers at their place - this would be more than a hoot
