Your excellent entry brought back many fond memories of the years I lived in Greece. The turpentine analogy was particularly apt.
You didn't mention kokouretsi (roast lamb or kid innards), probably with good reason. A dish to avoid, unless you really like organ meats.
The good thing about Greek coffee - the only good thing about Greek coffee, IMHO, is that you can get someone to tell your fortune with the coffee grounds when you've managed to choke down the liquid.
In the summer, frappe (instant coffee with condensed milk and lots of sugar, mixed in a cocktail shaker) is acceptable.
