I recently heard a line in a play that used Neo-Booolean Mathematics. I have two questions: A: Is this a reall thing and B: if a is true, what is it?

Hi!

I have also heard of Neo-Boolean mathematics, but as of yet have been unable to discover what it is, or indeed if it is real. I found the reference in a book, "Flowers for Algernon" (I think the author was Keynes), about a sub-average man who, through an operation, was transformed into a genius, but eventually reverted to his original, sub-normal state. Perhaps the whole concept is a malicious lie... is the play you watched anything like the book I have described?

That is indeed the play that I was talking about (I played Prof. Nemur). In that case, what are cultural variants?

Hi!

Cool story, isn't it? I think that cultural variations are simply typical behaviours, customs or inflections that contrast between groups of people or animals (I do psychology, and that's what it usually means).

^cultural variants, not cultural variations! They mean the same anyway. An example is nut-cracking in apes.

I figured it was some thing like that. Thank you for the clarification. SO, your a psicologist?

Hi!

I'm not a psychologist... I'm taking it along with my other subjects because it looked like a challenge. It is - though sometimes part of the challenge is staying awake! Someone once said that statistical psychology could not have originated in a country whose inhabitants could be bored, and they were probably right. Generally I just force myself to work and hope I get an A in the exams! smiley - smiley

Oh. I see. And so, would you like to become a psychologist?

Hi again!

I kept telling myself that I would get around to replying to everyone presently - then I thought "Oooh! A pun!", so I dropped the idea!

I don't think that I want to be a psychologist when I grow up - too much work! And then you have all the people arguing about it and going on about lack of validity and sample bias (no matter what you do, there's some point on which any study can be criticised) and you can't ask people to say 'Hello' for fear of being accused of some form of ethical crime committed against your participants!

Do *you* want to be a psychologist?

Your's,

Jordan

Well, it's a possiblity but, alas, I think not. I prefer physics or politics.

Hmm...

Physics I can swallow, but politics? (I can't help thinking that saying "I am a poiltitian" is the same as the Liar's paradox!) I like physics... what level of study are you at now?

I'm doing A-Levels now - I use to live in Scotland, where the year-names were different. Where do you live? (England V Scotland V Somewhere Much Better) Then I'll be sure what you mean! (The Density Strikes Back!)
