In Jon Ronson's book, "The Men who stared at Goats", there is an account of a US Marines colonel who was paid by the Pentagon to do just this... to explore the military potential inherent in hyperdimensional movement... (which would make the SAS obselete overnight: no need for stealthy three-dimensional movement if you can just pop out of 4-D space, blast your target, and retreat into hyperspace again before they have a chance to retaliate...)
