You've made me hungry!

I've got to go and have something to eat now. Though, to be honest I try not to eat on an empty stomach, so I'd have been going anyway.
I'm definitely going to have to try some now though. Well done!

Sorry I made you hungry. I thought an empty stomach was the only reason to eat something?
On second thoughts, I'm not sorry. I'm glad you like the entry.
Thanks to you, too, Opti.

B,Elana you have now lodged an inevitable buying choice in my skull by writing this article. I know that this weekend I'll be going to a favourite supermarket in Manama that has a good bread selection including pumpernickel; I'll definitely be buying some.
Thanks for the article and I'll give you a thought (or bread equivalent of cheers: I'll raise a slice to you) as I'm enjoying it.
Yours Salivatingly,
Lapis;

Oh you can actually get pumpernickel in Bahrein?
I'm happy you enjoyed my entry, let's hope you'll enjoy the pumpernickel, too.

Have you come across other 'out of the norm' types like soda bread (I think it comes from Wales, but maybe my wires are crossed)?

The name rings a bell - yes, I remember now.
Gnomon wrote a guide entry last year about Irish Soda Bread: A23502908
I always meant to bake it, don't know what kept me, though.

I'll check that link.
I'll break now for my evening meal.
Catch you later.
Bye for now.

Yeah, have you worked out the carbon footprint of a loaf of pumpernickel? I can't imagine many recipes requiring the oven to be left on for so long!

Vestboy Posted Aug 21, 2008
I expect Pumpernickel doesn't have feet. Carbon or otherwise.

True, true. But now you've mentioned it, I wonder whether I should better not bake it.

That's for you to decide.
Have you read about solar ovens? If we were in a warmer bit of the world we could make pumpernickel every day without worry!
Maybe we've found a niche in the market! Sahara baked pumpernickel.
In the UK there is a famous cake brand called Sarah Lee You could be known as Sahara Bel!
