Although your focus is on the high school tournaments, you might mention in passing that the champion nerds don't have to retire when they graduate -- they can continue to enter similar competitions in college.

Very true, JimLane. But if it's all right with you, as my focus is on the high school level, I'd prefer to leave information about college quiz bowl out (because once I write one sentence I'll have to write ten - that's how I am, you see). Maybe you could write the entry about college bowl... because if you don't, you'll have to wait four years for it!
