A Conversation for Science Fiction and Fantasy
Appeal of sci-fi
deep_thoughtII Started conversation Jun 14, 2005
Sci-fi and fantasy are somewhat broad categories; some of the great "sci-fi" writers (Terry Pratchett, for example) are actually writing about our world...Speaking personally, I find Pratchett's patchwork world much more interesting than run-of-the-mill dragons and princesses.
Perhaps the appeal of parallel universes lies in the insights they give us into our own.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
