I'm glad Iron Chef now has an approved entry. 'Twas long overdue.
Has anyone else attempted to host an Iron Chef gathering? My fiance and I just held a party in honor of the New York Battle. We held a dinner preceding the show, and while we did not cook it in an hour, we did have a theme ingredient which was kept secret until its unveiling just before the meal. The ingredient? Apples, of course, for the Big Apple Battle. We managed to come up with six dishes to serve for our meal, complete with sparkling and hard apple cider as beverage choices.
Has anyone else tried this? How about timed cooking events or real tasting competitions?

Well .. we've been known to have parties to watch it before ... but never anything as elaborate as your Apple battle -- but it sounds like a WONDERFUL idea and I'm going to try it!
